Introduction
The American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) is a multidisciplinary organization of engineering societies dedicated to advancing the knowledge, understanding, and practice of engineering.
Our member societies represent the mainstream of U.S. engineering -- nearly one million U.S. engineers in industry, construction, private practice, education, and government.
The Public Policies and Objectives summarized here are identified with a summary, highlights of key policy priorities, and a listing of pertinent position statements developed and approved by AAES' member societies.
To achieve its policy objectives, AAES conducts various activities designed to promote public debate on these issues and to foster a better understanding of the role engineering and technology play in affecting and resolving national issues, including the following:
- Establishing AAES and its member societies as preeminent resources on technical and professional issues;
- Enhancing the role of AAES as a link between our member societies and the government;
- Providing expert testimony on selected issues;
- Creating opportunities for dialogue with and technical guidance from engineers;
- Promoting the positions of our member societies; and
- Working with coalitions and other concerned organizations on priority issues.
