Stable, long-term funding for NASA space science and technology development must be provided to support U.S. economic competitiveness, intellectual vigor, and prestige. We encourage greater cooperation among Congress, the President, the executive agencies (NASA, NOAA, DOT, and DOD), and the science and engineering communities to formulate affordable program objectives that address earth-based challenges and broaden our understanding of the space environment.
AAES strongly supports funding for research and development in aeronautics and astronautics. Technologies developed by NASA must be expeditiously transferred to U.S. firms. We believe the U.S. must continue to leverage its investment in space by supporting NASA education programs.
Policy Objectives
- Promote development of a national consensus and clearly articulated policy on U.S. objectives in space
- Encourage funding of research and development in space application areas to reduce the unit costs of space transportation and infrastructure that inhibit the economic exploitation of space
- Encourage expedited technology transfer to U.S. firms for the creation of jobs, products, and services
