    Nellie E. Guernsey has been the executive director emeritus and secretary of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) since 1998. Prior to joining AIME, Ms. Guernsey was vice president of Mineral Systems International in Stamford, Connecticut and, as a principal of Guernsey Management Services, a contractor to AIME.

    Ms. Guernsey's work experience includes Kennecott Copper Corporation, where she specialized in economic and financial evaluations of mineral properties; Exxon Corporation, where she was a non-ferrous commodity analyst, and Pace University, where she was a part-time adjunct professor of management and of management science.

    Ms. Guernsey has been a member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers for 30 years and is a past chair of its Minerals Resources Management Committee. In addition to her position on AAES's Board, she has served on the boards of AIME, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc., and the United Engineering Foundation (UEF). She represents AIME and UEF's executive directors on the board of the Junior Engineering Technical Society.

    Ms. Guernsey has a bachelor's and masters in mining engineering from Columbia University's Henry Krumb School of Mines. She has been published in technical journals and presented papers in the United States and abroad.
