The American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) is a multidisciplinary organization of engineering societies dedicated to advancing the knowledge, understanding, and practice of engineering. AAES member societies represent the mainstream of U.S. engineering — engineers in industry, government, and academia.
The history of AAES starts in 1979 in New York. Today its office and staff are located in Reston, VA. AAES is a nonprofit organization that operates within a vision, mission, and engineers preamble.

Engineers Preamble
- Engineering should be practiced with the highest degree of professionalism and ethics.
- Engineering improves the quality of life and is a benefit to society.
- Policymakers and the public benefit from an understanding and appreciation for the value of the engineer.
- Engineers have an obligation to participate in public policy and public awareness.
Therefore, to maximize our effectiveness in public policy and public awareness, our member societies believe that we should work together and leverage our resources through AAES.
